Coloured Eggshell Luminaries

Create beautiful mosaic lanterns using recycled baby food jars and coloured eggshells. These look wonderful glowing with candles as part of our Easter seasonal shelf display.
Coloured Eggshell Luminaries 1These are very easy to make and you get stunning results for very little effort! The process of making them is also open to the makers creativity, making this a really fun and unique craft.

Eggshell craft 2{you will need…}

-PVA/modge podge

-paint brushes

-glass jars (baby food, jam jars, mason jars)

-crushed coloured eggshells

{what you do…}

  1. Paint the surface of the jar with glue.
  2. Lie the jar on its side in a tray of coloured eggshells and roll the jar over them.
  3. Scoop up some eggshell in your hand; crush and sprinkle over the sides of the jar.
  4. Allow your jar to dry for about half-an-hour, then place the jar between your hands and press and roll. This will remove any air pockets below the eggshells.
  5. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3.
  6. Allow your jar to dry before painting another layer of glue over the top of the eggshell. This will harden the outside and add a glossy shine.

Coloured Eggshell Luminaries 2When the glue is dry add a tea light candle inside the jar. Place on a mantle or on your seasonal shelf (like we did) and enjoy the gorgeous glow from your luminary.

Our Eggshell Craft post will show you how to create gorgeous coloured eggshells and more craft ideas can also be found on our Coloured Eggshell Memo Holder post.
