I have been a reader of the blog Sew Delicious for a few years now. I love the wonderful sewing tutorials and the gorgeous fabrics Ros uses in her projects. At the start of this year Ros announced Round 3 of the Sweet Pouch Swap. I have always wanted to take part in an exchange so I signed up and was soon partnered up with a lovely lady in the US.
Having never made a pouch of any kind before I was quite nervous about my project. I went through my fabric stash and found a beautiful piece to create the pouch with. I then used the Sew Delicious Simple Zip Pouch Tutorial which explains how to put a zip in clearly and easily. I created a gorgeous little pouch but then realised it would look so much better lined, so I gave this pouch to Strawberry.
The pouch takes no time at all to create and soon I had a pouch for my exchange partner. Now to fill it with goodies!
And here is what my exchange partner sent me!
She knew I liked owls and made me this adorable pouch plus sent some of the owl fabric she had left over! The colour combo is great! So bright and funky 🙂
My exchange partner’s pouch runs rings around my pouch. I hope I didn’t disappoint her too much, maybe the treats made up for my beginners sewing pouch! I am glad I didn’t look at Instagram or the Sew Delicious blog to see the pouches people were making. I would have been intimidated by the awesome talented sewers that took part in the exchange! I will definitely need to lift my game if I am to enter the Sweet Pouch Swap again. But the pouches are really fun to make and I can’t wait to get into the craft room and start honing my Sweet Pouch skills. I will be checking out the pinterest board full of sweet pouches for lots of inspiration…guess what everyone’s getting for birthdays and Christmas this year, lol!
