Pumpkin Scone Recipe

Chook and I had so much fun making this pumpkin scone recipe together. It is a great recipe to make together with children. Everything goes into one bowl and you’re allowed to get your hands into the mix and get messy! This pumpkin scone recipe made enough for one morning tea for our family of six.

When baking with preschoolers or with several children I like to have all the equipment and ingredients ready to go on the bench. Having a back-up activity is a good idea too when kids start to wander or lose interest.

Pumpkin Scone Recipe

{you will need…}

Equipment needed:

A large bowl

A Tablespoon
A baking tray (I used a lamington tray)
A cup

Ingredients:

1 egg
2½ cups of self-raising flour
2Tbs butter
¼ cup sultanas
1 cup mashed cooked pumpkin
¼ cup milk

Crack your egg into the bowl and add your flour.

Add sultanas.

Add butter. Mix these ingredients with your fingers until there aren’t any lumps. Squishing and rubbing between your fingers really helps!

Add the pumpkin and the milk. Mix with a spoon. It will get sticky now.

Take a spoonful of the mixture and gently roll into a ball.

Place onto the baking tray.

Make sure there is a little growing room between each scone.

Put the tray into a hot oven and cook for 15 minutes.

Serve to the awaiting hoards, who have congregated due to the delicious smell of baking.
