A week of activities for your children with Playful Matters Afterschooling Weekly Play Rhythm. This week we look at more kitchen science fun, an activity with the book of the week and we get creative with coloured spaghetti.
If you’d like to receive your FREE Weekly Play Rhythm by email, just sign up below. The Weekly Rhythm will arrive on Sundays with activities we have been doing, plus additional activity tips and resources that I like to share.
March’s Afterschooling monthly activity planner is here! On the planner you will find five weeks of activities covering the book of the week, activity trays for the monthly block to project based learning. Then each week the planner is supported by our Afterschooling Weekly Play Rhythm detailing how to create and do the activity with your child. As a subscriber to Playful Matters you will receive free access to our monthly activity planners.
Monday is Story Day
Owl Babies is a cute story about three owls who are worried, when Mama Owl goes for a night flight. It is a great read aloud for those that like to give characters different voices! Now, being the owl lover that I am I HAD to share the Montessori-inspired owl activities collated by Deb of Living Montessori Now
Tuesday is Play Day
An invitation to play using green play dough, cookie cutters and eye stickers was put out for the kids. I just love the different approaches each kid took.
Wednesday is Create Day
This week we also had an invitation to create with coloured spaghetti.
Thursday is Discovery Day
Continuing on from last week’s volcanic eruptions we took our science investigation outside. I set up a tray of baking soda (bi-carbonated soda), coloured vinegar and a choice of syringe or dropper.
Friday is Learn Day
Saturday is Game Day
Teaching the kids to play dominoes.
Sunday is Nature Adventurers
Wow! I cannot believe that today is 40C! Tomorrow is the last day of summer and mother nature is throwing her all at these last few days, that’s for sure. We went exploring one of my favourite local beaches this week, Blue Haven. We headed towards the rocks and then up into the bush. This tree was just asking to be climbed!
